Symposium
What is/was architectural theory? Revolution, Crises, and the Hope for New Foundations in 1967 Updating the conference by Oswalt Mathias Ungers on architectural theory from 1967
The symposium, organized by the DAM and the CCSA, coincides with the centenary of architect Oswalt Mathias Ungers in 2026. Among his achievements is the conference on architectural theory, held in 1967 at the Technical University of Berlin.
Now, nearly 60 years later, we would like to conduct a sort of “update” or re-reading of that conference while also observing the development of architectural theory up to the present day.
This also involves examining the gaps in the original event. Which positions—not represented at the time—should be considered in light of today’s knowledge?
The speakers include Daniela Fabricius, Dirk Schubert, Hilde Heynen, Alessandro Toti, Stéphane Gaessler, Gabrielle Schaad, Macarena de la Vega de León, Cristina López Uribe, Sascha Roesler, Joseph Bedford, and members of the CCSA.
The complete list of speakers and topics will be announced soon on the DAM homepage.
